Brand : Fairtrade

The London Tea Company is committed to bringing you Fairtrade certified teas and herbal infusions. Through Fairtrade we help to support growers and surrounding communities, by paying a guaranteed minimum price for their crop. We have developed an exciting range of Fairtrade teas and herbal infusions which are packed with flavour and help provide a fair price the growers and their communities. The Fairtrade Foundation is an independent certification body which licenses the use of the FAIRTRADE Mark on products which meet international Fairtrade standards. This independent consumer label appears on products to show that disadvantaged producers are getting a better deal from trade. Today, more than 1.3 million people – farmers and workers – benefit. Fairtrade is an alternative approach to conventional trade and is based on a partnership between producers and consumers. Fairtrade offers producers a better deal and improved terms of trade. This allows them the opportunity to improve their lives and plan for their future. Fairtrade offers consumers a powerful way to reduce poverty through their every day shopping. When a product carries the FAIRTRADE Mark it means the producers and traders have met Fairtrade Standards. The Standards are designed to address the imbalance of power in trading relationships, unstable markets and the injustices of conventional trade. Producer standards cover developmental, employment and environmental factors; and for each of these there are minimum requirements that the producer organisation must meet in order to be certified. These include ensuring female representation within the management of the co-operatives, elimination of harmful pesticides and commitment towards anti-discrimination employment and working practices. This process requires a framework for continuous improvement as the organisation starts to receive additional income from sales to the Fairtrade market.
